This work was produced by Shinichiro Watanabe as he was invited to make a short animation for the movie Blade Runner 2019, and the plot of the animation was set to be in the year of 2022, which is three years after the prequel. I happened to know that a friend of mine holds a copy of the Japanese Blu-ray, and so I "bugged" him to release the series.
